These pages about Bauer's Pit have never been funded by any relatives of Roy Bauer or Roy himself.  It is simply a collection of my personal, copyrighted photos and movies from my trips out there.  Also, with all photos and movies, they can not be reproduced, copied, stolen, etc. without my express written permission.  That is all.

The First Hole of the Day

Trip to Bauer's Pit
April 12, 2003

Last years' pictures are here.

I must say, this was a fun time.  Joe and I were meeting up with Dan and his Suzuki, as well as another Suzuki and a Toyota from the Rochester area, to do a little wheelin at Bauer's Pit.  Ironically, this was on the anniversary of the last big wheelin trip at Bauer's Pit in 2002.  Joe and I arrived about 15 minutes early to the pit.  I debated on just hangin out and watching the four wheelers play, or getting a jump start on the mud.  As we came down into the pit, I noticed the mud hole that Mikey got stuck in with his Blazer almost up to the top of his 35s last year.  The hole seemed much drier this year, so I figured, what the hell.  I'll give this a shot.  It shouldn't be that deep...

Other Blazers getting stuck in this hole:

Mikey's Blazer
6" Lift / 35" Pro Comp M/Ts

Exhaust under water, mud almost up to the floorboards, Joe and I sat waiting for reinforcements.

Yup, I think we're stuck.

I definitely think we're stuck.

Yup, I don't think an ATV is going to be pulling US out.

Dan's here!  Now he can pull us out, um, well...  I guess he had other ideas.

An ATV decides to join our fun in this hole.

Another ATV hooks up to Dan to attempt to pull him out of this deep mud hole.

The lifted Toyota from Rochester has arrived.  We met a couple guys with a Jeep Liberty as well.  Thumbs up for actually taking the Liberty on trails and through mud.

Dan's Suzuki

Dan's Suzuki again, and of course the Project Blazer.

The Toyota

CARNAGE!  The Cast Aluminum Lift Blocks on the Rear Axle decided they had enough.  They departed the vehicle, along with the axle itself, twisting the rear driveshaft in two.

Hard to tell how steep of a hill the Toyota was trying to make it up.  You could barely walk up it.

What remains of the rear driveshaft.
