A Fun Night at Elko

It was a pretty fun Saturday night out at Elko Speedway watching Mark Anderson, Jr. (a.k.a. Marky Mark) racing a Late Model at the Thunderstruck 93 event. This guy used to race mini ATVs with us at Jordan and other Motokazie tracks back from 2017 or so to 2021, and then he moved up…to cars!

Mark was a successful Bandolero class racer, and also took up Legend car racing where he took his very first championship this year at Dells Raceway Park. Now, he’s just getting his feet wet in the Late Model cars. Not a bad resume for 17 years old!

It was a tough night with a flat tire in practice, a broken heim joint on a shock, and flywheel problems leading to having to be bump started. Then Mark got caught up in a bit of a wreck early during the feature which led to a little rearranging of the car’s sheet metal. Even then, there were a few laughs to be had around the pits, and it was perfect Fall weather throughout the night. Certainly it was fun to catch up with Mark and gang again for an entirely different type of racing for me. I even got put to work in the pits temporarily!

Next Saturday is the final practice and race of the 2026 season at Jordan! We’ll see everybody there!
