Kyle Lundin’s first race was at a Litchfield Motokazie event on August 4, 2024. He was supposed to be racing a Suzuki Z400, but problems at the last minute sent him back to the garage to grab his dad’s Yamaha Raptor 660. Not exactly the ideal machine for supercross! However, I’ve seen this many times before. A local kid that found motocross or supercross interesting enough to fight away the nerves and try it out in front of a hometown crowd.
Fast forward to Kyle’s 10th race of the 2026 Motokazie Supercross season on August 8, 2026, nearly two years to the day of his first ever race. It was a fantastic turn out with a fantastic group of guys. A very fun morning practice event which I participated in myself, and perfect weather for an evening race. 4 boys from Sparta, a new member of the Pollock family, and the usual crew netted us 12 riders in total on the line. 10 from Quad Open B/C class, and 2 from Quad Open A class. Kyle ripped a nice holeshot in B/C class, which he kept until Chad Merow went maximum speed around the top of the berm and around to get the pass. At the end of the heat, it was Merow 1st, Lundin 2nd, and Schroetter 3rd.
It was main event time! Kyle came out of the gate so well he bumped his mentor, Jacob Schilling, who is in A class, comfortably taking the B/C holeshot again. He held off extreme competition for the duration to take his very first win at any race! What can I say man? All those days spent practicing and training and the ups and downs that go with racing, and now a 1st place main event finish. Absolutely fantastic! Very proud of you sir! Finishing second was Andrew Schroetter, third was Chad Merow, and fourth was Marcus Cox.
Also, congratulations on Cam Pollock for his very first race of all time…on a Honda 400EX. Maybe in August of 2028 this kid will surprise us too?
