Recent Technology projects…

Here’s a few of the tech projects I’ve been working on over the past month. Some of these update the aging slide processors on Rice County Skywarn and add new functionality, and 2 other projects are for fun and a nod and respect to a couple of old game shows.

First, the fun! Here’s a walkthrough of my own recreation of the bonus round of the game show “Bullseye” from 1981, as well as “The Winner’s Circle” from the $100,000 Pyramid of the mid 1980s. Play them both yourself at https://klier.us/games/bonus-island and https://klier.us/games/winnerscircle . Don’t worry, they’re both fully web-based and safe!

Second, a new generation system for the Daily Weather Briefing slides used on Rice County Skywarn. The new system has the capability of placing custom graphics, as well as current radar view, into the main slide, so it’s easier for some that just want a quick glance at the forecast versus having to read 3 or 4 paragraphs.

And finally, for those that haven’t wanted to put down money for a commercial radar viewer tool such as GRLevel3 or RadarScope, I’m pleased to announce a new FREE Level 2 and Level 3 radar viewer tool that also overlays watches and warnings, storm cell data with NOAA-derived probability of severity, lightning strikes, and both spotter and citizen weather reports. It even has a winter mode that changes the colors and radar sensitivity for those winter snow storms. Try it out at https://skywarn.us/rad

While Anthropic Claude helps take care of a lot of the Javascript and PHP programming, the ideas and manual tweaks to get exactly what I envisioned are still very hands-on. We source all of our data from NOAA, the National Weather Service, and other trusted providers, so you can be sure the information you are seeing is accurate.

I’m always pleased to have you check it out and provide input on how they all can be made better!
